Journal of Biocomputing and Organic Software Architecture

An interdisciplinary journal connecting biocomputing, adaptive and organic software architecture, unconventional computation, and reproducible computational engineering.

Journal overview

The Journal of Biocomputing and Organic Software Architecture (JBOSA) is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed journal at the intersection of computer science, software engineering, biological computation, and adaptive systems. It publishes research that translates principles such as adaptation, self-organization, resilience, evolution, signaling, and distributed biological information processing into explicit computational models, algorithms, software architectures, programming abstractions, tools, or experimentally validated systems. The journal also covers molecular and cellular computation, unconventional and neuromorphic computing, biohybrid systems, and reproducible engineering methods. Biological analogy by itself is not sufficient; submissions must make a clear, technically assessable computing or software-engineering contribution and support it with appropriate analysis, implementation, validation, or reproducibility evidence.

Manuscripts are handled according to the published peer-review policy and publishing policies; only confirmed appointments appear on the editorial board. An ISSN identifies a journal but does not certify its scholarly quality or database indexing.

About the journal
Aims and scope

JBOSA advances rigorous computing research in which biological principles or unconventional substrates are translated into explicit models, algorithms, architectures, software systems, tools, or validated engineering methods.

Adaptive software architectures

Bio-inspired, self-regulating, resilient, self-healing, and environmentally adaptive software systems.

Molecular and cellular computing

DNA, molecular, cellular, synthetic-biological, and other non-conventional substrates for computation.

Self-organising computation

Evolutionary, emergent, distributed, and self-organising computational models and architectures.

Neuromorphic and unconventional systems

Architectures and computational models that depart from conventional software and hardware abstractions.

Formal methods and reliability

Verification, safety, resilience, fault tolerance, and rigorous evaluation of adaptive or organic architectures.

Tools and reproducible platforms

Programming languages, runtimes, middleware, datasets, benchmarks, and experimental platforms for biocomputing.

Who should read and submit

Researchers, engineers, and advanced practitioners in computer science, software architecture and software engineering; bio-inspired, adaptive, autonomic, and self-organizing systems; molecular, synthetic-biological, biohybrid, neuromorphic, and unconventional computing; formal methods, reliability, and resilient systems; computational biology where a genuine computing-method contribution is present; and research software, benchmarking, and reproducible computational engineering.

Editorial quality control
Peer-review policy

Editorial decisions remain independent of author identity, institutional status, commercial considerations, and the prospect of financial benefit to the publisher.

Review model

JBOSA uses double-anonymized (double-blind) peer review by default. Author and reviewer identities are concealed from one another during external review. Research and review manuscripts normally require at least two suitably qualified independent reviewers.

Reviewer selection

Editors select reviewers on subject expertise, independence, workload, and absence of relevant conflicts of interest. Author suggestions may be considered but do not determine reviewer selection.

Editorial decisions

Reviewer reports are advisory. The handling editor and Editor-in-Chief remain responsible for editorial decisions and may decline manuscripts before external review when scope, completeness, technical quality, or policy requirements are not met.

Technical reproducibility

Software, models, configurations, benchmarks, data, and computational workflows should be documented sufficiently for independent technical assessment whenever legal, ethical, and licensing constraints permit.

Journal governance
Editorial board

Appointments are published only after the invited editor has agreed to serve and the publisher office has completed the appointment record.

Editorial independence

JBOSA is owned and published by Delvierre Publisher. The Publisher formally appoints the Editor-in-Chief and editorial-board members after qualification and conflict-of-interest review. The Editor-in-Chief may recommend board appointments and retains independent responsibility for scholarly editorial decisions.

The Founding Editor-in-Chief has been appointed. Additional editorial-board appointments will be added after each invitation is accepted.

Data, software, and reproducibility

Authors should provide data, source code, software artefacts, model definitions, configurations, benchmarks, and analysis procedures needed to evaluate and reproduce reported work whenever legally, ethically, and technically possible.

Preservation

Delvierre Publisher maintains publication files, metadata, and operational backups. External long-term preservation arrangements will be named publicly only after they are formally established.

Ethics, appeals, and corrections

JBOSA follows Delvierre Publisher policies for publication ethics, authorship, competing interests, complaints, appeals, corrections, expressions of concern, retractions, and post-publication record maintenance.

Fees and revenue

JBOSA is operated as Diamond Open Access during its founding volume. Authors are not charged a submission fee, article processing charge, page charge, or publication fee.

Advertising

JBOSA does not currently accept advertising on journal editorial or article pages. Any future advertising must remain clearly separate from editorial content and decision-making.
